TCC Electric Bicycle Policy
TCC welcomes riders using electric bicycles (Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3) on club rides, provided the bicycle is operated only in pedal-assist mode. Use of the throttle at any time during a TCC ride is not permitted.
Like all bicyclists on group rides, E-bikers are expected to:
- Ride in a controlled and predictable manner, accepting that group‑ride dynamics naturally include changes in pace and position, especially on hills where riders may climb or descend at their own speed.
- Ensure that pedal‑assist does not cause abrupt accelerations or pace changes that disrupt the normal flow of group riding and jeopardize group cohesion and safety. This includes avoiding riding far off the front in a way that disrupts group pace, cohesion and leadership. The goal is to maintain predictable and safe organization and movement within the group, not to restrict natural differences in rider ability.
- Follow the normal directions of the ride leader regarding riding behavior, pace, and position within the group, if motor-related behavior affects group cohesion or safety.
